Back To The Grind

It was back to work for me this past Monday (the 4th). Boy did this week kick me in the butt. It was tough getting back to work after having 2 weeks off with absolutely no work. The luxuries of sleeping in, taking naps, reading at will, organizing photos, etc. etc. It was blissful.

A couple of the kids in my class really like sports. They watch and keep up with them. I tell them that I don't really keep up with them, but I like to watch them in person (and that I know a bit about most of the games out there, how to play etc.), but I don't enjoy them on T.V. They are too funny and like to tell me about it. So a couple of my boys were telling me about some games, a basketball and football. One of my girls overheard me saying I don't really enjoy watching them and she said "but it's not scary." I told her that I knew that, but then just had to laugh. The kids know that I do not like scary movies and will not watch them. I thought it was funny that my kiddo made that joke.

On Monday, after a long day back to work, I went to dinner at Pinnacle Peak with Brandon, Kim and Kim's family. It was pretty tasty. I had shredded beef from there, which I had never had from the restaurant and I was not disappointed. I don't normally order steak, and I had just had hamburgers at my dad's the night before. After, we went to Target and fulfilled a few things from our lists. Yay for hangers! After Kim, Brandon and I went to Coldstone and boy was that tasty. Cheesecake ice cream with brownies is definitely a good pick.

The Saturday after New Year's, Kim threw a going away party for Brandon since he is deployed to Iraq again. We had a nice time talking and socializing the night away.

My dad got me a small crock pot as a house-warming gift when I moved out and it is a wonderful thing. I used a gift card from Christmas and bought a larger one for things that aren't as easily made in the small crock pot. The first thing I made in the large crock pot was beans (they turned out really tasty!). I want to attempt white chili, as well as some sort of soup to eat in a bread bowl. The inspiration for the soup and bread bowl came from a baby shower I attended on the 9th. The baby shower was for a friend at work. It was ladybug themed for her little girl. It was funny because I won two out of the three games they had. For the first game the girls at my table (all friends from work) worked together. They had us pick numbers and my number was closest! Yay! for number 4! Then we played the candy bar melted in a diaper game. My friend from work and I played the game together but wrote a few different answers for one of them. I won! YAY me. I would have had all ten, except I didn't go with my gut and change our answer of hershey bar w/caramel to a 100 grand. Oh well. I got lotion from Bath and Body Works and Starbucks gift cards. So exciting! :)

On Tuesday, the 5th, I played volleyball at my gym. It was open gym night. I'm excited that this coming week will start the season again. It will be nice to be on a team again. I have so much fun playing. There are a few people that really annoy me when playing though. They seem like it's the end of the world if you hit the ball and it was "their" ball to hit. I just have to laugh. I had a couple really great sets. The ball went up where it was supposed to with no spinning. I was really excited.

Overall it's been a very busy week and weekend. I will be working on cleaning my house as well as a bunch of work after completing this entry. Hopefully I'll update some pictures soon as well.
