A Look Back

Looking back at the year and my list, I did accomplish some of it, however I also didn't complete it all.  I did do a lot of things that were NOT on my list but that were brand new.  Overall, 2010 has been a pretty full year and I have enjoyed it.  It had it's rough patches (like getting laid off) and it's great moments like traveling to Georgia and finding a new job. :)  Just wanted to look back at my list and see all that I've completed (as well as what I have not)

50 Things to Do in 2010:

1. Plant plants in my backyard. ( I did do this, but I don't do well with plants and no shade... equals dead plants .super quickly)

2. Scrapbook once a month. (nope. but spent a couple weeks scrapping almost every day!)

3. Workout 3-5 times a week. (did not happen. I will definitely have to be more on top of this next year!)

4. Host or Attend a game night once a month. (also, did not happen. but was busy almost every weekend with something!)

5. Keep a blog updated weekly. [oops! haha]

6. Scrapbook these events/items on the list either as I complete them or at the end of the year.

7. Read 10 books I have never read before. (11/10) (The Last Song, Message in a Bottle, Dear John, PostSecret Confessions on Life, Death and God, The Wednesday Letters, Tricks, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, The Rescue, Baby Proof, The Guardian) *have now read so many books, that I have lost count*

*I guess I could have made this goal higher! :)

8. Travel to a minimum of 2 new places. (somewhat planned; Georgia, and D.C.) [going to georgia in december and DC sometime next year...maybe twice! :)]

More From May

So, normally one would forget all the things that happened a couple of months ago... at least many of the details, but I find that because I take so many pictures, it is somewhat easy to update my blog from things that happened back in May.  Besides the two concerts, we also celebrated Devon's birthday with a happy hour and hanging out at their house.  While at the house, fake tattoos came about and the best one I think was putting one on Brent's head.  I laughed so hard! Here are a few photos from this experience.

Also in May, school ended, and with that came a colleague's retirement.  We attended a Hawaiian themed retirement party.  I also cut my hair, that day.  There was food, dancing, friends, and cardboard cut outs.

At the end of the school year I had to take everything down and out of my classroom since I will not be  back at my school for the next school year.  Here are some pictures of the emptiness.

At the end of the school year, my students would write on the white boards all the time.  They wrote me a lot of little notes so I had to capture them on film. :)

So Bad...

I have been so bad about updating my blog, even with my intentions of doing it and the fact that it is on my list of 50 things to do this year. I have decided that I still want to complete my list, or as much of it as I still can, but no matter what, I am donating to Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Now that I think about it, I realize I need to update my 50 things list, because I know I have completed, or gotten closer to completing some of the goals. I decided for this update, I would upload some pictures and stories from even as far back as May. A lot has happened the past few months good and not as much fun to deal with.

Back in May I went to two concerts in one weekend. It was pretty much the best weekend of the year so far. I went to see Carrie Underwood on Saturday with Stephanie and her family, and it was amazing! She has one of the most amazing voices! We had floor seats and just had a blast; from opening acts to the very end. I couldn't believe how close Craig Morgan got to us! He started out in the crowd and then during another song came out. He was one row away from us. Sons of Sylvia also opened for Carrie and they were pretty great! I hadn't heard them before and I liked them so much I came home and ordered their album on itunes and have been enjoying them every since. I had heard of them, because they do a song with Carrie on her album, and it is one of my favorite songs. Here are some pictures from the show.

SO EXCITED before the show.

Being silly while we wait.

Amazing Show!

The next morning I had to get up early, but I didn't mind, because I was going to GLEE live! in Phoenix. I couldn't believe the luck I had when I got these tickets. It was an added day to the original tour dates. We got second row tickets for this matinee show... let me repeat that we had SECOND ROW TICKETS! I have never been so close! The venue wasn't too large either, so we were RIGHT THERE! The show was just amazing... The cast of the show is amazing live! I hope they come again next year, and that I get to go... and sit just as close, if not front row! haha.  The only thing that would have made this better would have been if Chelsie didn't get sick and could have come.  She was the one missing piece... Still had a blast!

Before the cast of Glee came out to start the show, a dance group, The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers came out.  They were incredible!  I am so glad I got to see them live before they became a little more popular!

I scrapbooked the many, many, many pictures i took from this concert.  The album turned out pretty awesome, if I may say so. :)

So much has happened this year, but these are the very happy, super awesome, moments from May... Two of them at least! :)

Oh February

February flew right by. The first week of February, had 2 half days and normal wednesday 1/2 dayish where the kids get out at 12:30. On Thursday and Friday they got out at 11:30. I met with all my parents that showed up to have conferences. The week after was Love of Reading Week. We had at least one guest reader every day, and on Friday we had many guest readers. The week after we continue our love of reading by having a school-wide DEAR time (Drop Everything And Read). It went over really well in our classroom. I thoroughly enjoyed it because it wasn't just the students who got to participate, the teachers, staff, etc. all participated. So I got to bring a book and read for enjoyment as well. It went over so well that as a school, I believe we are going to incorporate it as a 2 times a week thing and after AIMS, I think it will become a 4-day a week thing again. I really liked it and so did the kids. It got them reading

I went hiking many Sundays with Becca at Tumamoc Hill...all incline! It's tough but pretty awesome. The last time we went, we saw a pack of 5 or 6 adult javelinas and a baby. We kept our distance, but it was pretty cool to see. Went out to the moon one night with Kim, Steph, and Shannon. We had a pretty good time. I found 5 quarters on the ground, so I picked them up. Quarters are some good change. They were laughing at me though, because one second I was near them and the next I was over picking up quarters. I wasn't going to pass them up! :) Here are a couple pictures from one of our hikes.

We always have a good time climbing this thing! :)
